Invasive Species ID & Mapping Training

TART Trails is excited to partner with the Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network to identify and create a management and removal plan for the Leelanau Trail, as well as other trails in the TART Trails Network.

Are you interested in becoming an Invasive Species Specialist? Join the Invasive Species Network and TART Trails for an all-day training on invasive species. Learn about identification and treatment, mapping and how to report on invasive species with other partners and engaged volunteers. Afterwards, our Invasive Species Specialist will work to form a plan and schedule for tackling the TART Trails network.

The training will cover everything from messaging to mapping:

How to communicate about invasive species–what might the public ask?

ID of Top 20 and Early Detection species–with photos and in-the-field examples

Using a GPS or smartphone to record and report invasive species populations

Overview of invasive species management
