New Waves UCC Community Gathering

  • Saturday | September 22nd, 2018

  • Neahtawanta Inn

You’re Invited!

Several years ago the United Church of Christ purchased property near the corner of Bugai Road and M72, 20 acres located approximately 4 miles west of downtown Traverse City.

New Waves UCC, a new congregation of the United Church of Christ, is interested in being a good neighbor: using this asset in the community, a gift to bless vulnerable populations, a model for future development, an example of environmental stewardship and care for the earth.

We have met many people in our community (including you!), who are engaged in such endeavors: affordable housing, housing homeless youth, organic agriculture, permaculture initiatives, edible landscaping, gardening that serves those with food insecurity, community developers, land conservationists, carbon net zero game changers, renewable energy creators, justice and peace advocates, government policy makers, water protectors, artists and musicians, and so many more. We know that you have ideas about what the future looks like and we're asking you to share them with respect to our property.

Our goal for Saturday, September 22 is to use the power of conversation, creating space to imagine what is possible; to invite you to network with each other around your compelling dreams and goals to see what we might do together. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Our meeting place is especially suited for such a conversation. The Neahtawanta Inn is an enchanting place, where social justice advocacy meets soul nurturing karma. Sally Van Vleck, the Innkeeper has offered this place to us for Saturday morning but you are welcome to stay Friday night at a reduced rate by emailing Jody Betten at pastor@newwavesucc.org and/or Saturday night by reserving a room at www.NeahtawantaInn.com.

Our format will encourage cross pollination of ideas around topics of stewarding the land, housing and development, zero or low carbon impact, serving vulnerable populations, and being good stewards of all that God has given us.

If you have questions or need more information, please email me at pastor@newwavesucc.org or call (616) 706-3549.

We look forward to seeing you!
